Old Forge, NY – Water Safari Resort participated in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson™ (WLSL) with 23 participants on Thursday, June 20th. The worldwide event is designed to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning. WLSL Host Locations hosted more than 39,000 kids and parents on six continents during the one-day event!
Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created in 2010 by the World Waterpark Association to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional, and statewide water safety and drowning prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.
In 2023, more than 600 waterparks, aquatic centers, and Goldfish Swim School locations hosted the same lesson. From Hong Kong to Qatar, to the United Arab Emirates and Okinawa, Japan where the U.S. Marine Corps Installations Pacific taught both Marines and Marine Corps families, every facility worked to share the same important message that Swimming Lessons Save Lives.
