Elementary School Reading Safari Program

Enchanted Forest Water Safari is proud to offer our Reading Safari initiative to encourage reading among young students! Promoting literacy and a love for reading is such an important cause. Here’s a brief summary of our Elementary School Reading Safari Program: 

• Partnership: Enchanted Forest Water Safari partners with NYS regional elementary schools (Pre)K-6. 

• Goal: Promote extracurricular reading and literacy. Supporting young readers, offering a fun reward for their hard work! 

• Program Details: 

• Program time frame is set by your school 

• Students read a minimum of 6 hours (360 minutes) outside of school. 

• Eligible reading materials include picture books, newspapers, magazines, comic books, novels, and nonfiction. 

• Parents and students track reading time at home each week using a log, submitted weekly to classroom teachers to gain credit toward the 6-hour minimum. 

• Reward: Students who meet the reading requirement earn one free ticket (good any day) to Enchanted Forest Water Safari, New York’s Largest Water Theme Park in Old Forge, NY for the upcoming summer season. 

• Submission Deadline: Classroom teachers will work with your selected program contact person to tally the hours and submit ONE, completed final spreadsheet by Friday, May 16, 2025, to allow sufficient time to process and return tickets to you for distribution to students before school is out for summer. 

• Ticket Validity: Reading Safari Tickets are valid only for students/children in grades (Pre)K-6 only. Only children will be admitted with Reading Safari Tickets, these tickets are not valid for adults.
