1. Enchanted Forest Water Safari

Yes, it is not just a tourist destination – the locals come here too! It has been a tradition for many locals to come to Water Safari with their family a few times per season or more! With more than 50 rides and attractions including 32 heated outdoor water rides the fun never stops at Water Safari! 

2. Old Forge Farmer’s Market

 Offering locally grown farm fresh produce, as well as locally made crafts, locals love attending the Old Forge Farmer’s Market. Located at Park Avenue behind Old Forge Hardware on 104 Fulton Street Old Forge, NY,  the Farmer’s Market is open on Fridays, from June 21st thru October 4th, from 1pm to 5pm. Stop by and explore all there is to offer the next time you’re in town.

3. Fulton Chain of Lakes

A string of eight lakes starting at Old Forge Pond in Old Forge and stretching all the way out past the Town of Inlet to 8th Lake, most locals love to swim, boat, canoe, kayak, or SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board) on any lake. There are even various spots along the lake where you can stop for a drink or a bite, like Daiker’s on 4th lake. So, take a break and head to Old Forge to enjoy the lakes with the locals! 

4. Slicker’s

Looking for a nice meal and some tasty beverages? Look no further! Slicker’s is a nice walk from Water’s Edge Inn and offers great food (try their lobster pizza or any of their pizza for that matter) and some very tasty and uniquely named specialty beverages. One of theirspecialty drinks is called the “Bushwhacker”  – it is an adult milkshake that the locals rave about. 

5. View Arts Center

Open year-round, View Arts attracts locals and visitors alike! The venue features artists from across North America for its juried exhibitions and displays the work of regional and local artists. View Arts also offers many events and workshops which means they have a little something for everyone no matter what age. Any artist or admirer of art would appreciate View Arts. 

6. Bald Mountain

Bald Mountain, also known as Rondaxe Mountain, is a very popular hiking spot for locals and tourists alike. It is very close to Old Forge and has breath-taking views from the fire tower on top. This hike is just under a mile, and the ascent is about 500 feet with a 2350-foot summit. The Whole family can conquer this mountain. 

 7. The Strand Theater

When locals are looking for something to do on a rainy day or just because they look no further than The Strand Theater. With a history dating back to 1923, this theater continues to show the most recent movie releases today. Being that this is the only theater for miles, it makes sense that this is where the locals hang to get their movie fix. 

 8. Screamen Eagle

The Screamen Eagle, also known as Matt’s Draft House, is a local joint in Inlet, NY that offers over 50 beers on tap with some awesome food you’re sure to love! Owned by a husband and wife team, locals love stopping here for pizza, wings, beers, and good times.
