OLD FORGE, NY… Old Forge is set to celebrate Labor Day weekend Sept 1st – 4th with fireworks on Sunday, September 3rd, the CAP-PY Duck Derby, a car raffle, fireworks and more.

The CAP-PY Duck Derby is scheduled for Sunday, September 3rd.  Watch as 3,000 rubber ducks sail down the Moose River. Many great prizes from local sponsors. Thousands of rubber ducks are released into the Moose River near the covered bridge (ADK Bank Parking Lot) and dam in Old Forge on SR 28 on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Enjoy music, grilled hotdogs, face painting, corn hole and the excitement swirling around the event.

Adopt a single duck for $5 or a “Flock of 5” ducks for $20 and cheer them on, as the speediest duck can win you one of 18 wonderful prizes donated by generous local business owners. Ducks can be adopted at the Friday Old Forge Farmers Market or at the Old Forge Visitor Information Center. All proceeds go towards LivingADK in our mission to promote healthy, vibrant, and growing communities in the West Central Adirondacks!

Sunday, September 3rd includes evening festivities at the Old Forge Lakefront Park starting at 7 pm, with live entertainment. The concert and following fireworks are sponsored by the CAA. Prior to the fireworks show, the winners will be drawn for the CAA Annual Car Raffle. The raffle is the primary fundraiser for the Central Adirondack Association and provides support for CAA-sponsored community events. Water’s Edge Inn Lakefront Hotel is the perfect place to enjoy all the weekend activities and features a heated pool, sauna and continental breakfast.

Labor Day Weekend is also the last chance to visit Enchanted Forest Water Safari before it closes for the season. Enchanted Forest Water Safari is New York’s largest water theme park with more than 50 rides and attractions, including 33 heated water rides with a focus on family fun for all ages. The park also features classic amusement rides, fun food, exciting games, cool shops, private cabanas, storybook themed characters, a family circus show and much more! The park’s last day of operation is Monday, September 4th.

Calypso’s Cove Family Fun Park, part of the Water Safari Resort, will also be open through Sunday, September 3rd. Calypso’s Cove is open afternoons and evenings. Attractions include go-karts, kiddie go-karts, bumper boats, batting cages, zip line, rock climbing wall, mini golf and more than 40 games making it the best arcade in the Adirondacks.  Enjoy family-friendly food including pizza, wings and more. Admission to Calypso’s Cove is free with each attraction requiring one paid ticket.  Arcade, Mini Golf & Food open at 11:30am and all rides open after Water Safari closes.

Adirondack Scenic Railroad will be in operation and the McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift ride will be operating all weekend, including Monday, and will continue its fall schedule through Columbus Day.
